Hello! I'm a software developer with lots of experience in full stack and backend development. I was most recently a developer at SirusXM Radio until I was laid off recently. The languages I've used the most are Python, Java, C++, Ruby ( Ruby on Rails ), and JavaScript. I've also worked over a year in a classified setting and I still hold a security clearance. I'm looking for a entry or mid-level software engineer position.
I attended Virginia Tech for three years and studied Computer Science and Math. I got the core CS curriculum completed; the part I didn't complete were the electives. I had to stop attending because I ran out of money.
Due to my current financial situation, unfortunately I'll require a salary position - no equity only.
With all that said, I'm open to having a conversation with anyone. Thanks! :)

Hi, I’m a software engineer with 6+ years of experience in startups, focused on building scalable, data-intensive web applications and developer platforms.
Recently, I built a config-driven RAG chatbot platform that delivers grounded, context-aware responses from a VectorStore-backed retrieval pipeline. It’s fully configurable for models and retrieval parameters and includes a LangSmith-based evaluation harness for tracing and regression testing.
Before that, I developed an AI insights dashboard using React, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL, featuring an advanced video player with transcript sync and FFmpeg-based clipping tools to support multimedia insights workflows.
Earlier, I integrated various server-side tracking APIs and built real-time NRQL dashboards, improving observability and secure integrations for analytics and customer data platforms.
I am open to contract or full-time roles depending on the situation.
My focus areas include:
System Architecture & Design: Crafting resilient, observable, and maintainable systems that scale.
Distributed Systems: Designing and evolving services that thrive under load and handle failure gracefully.
Technical Leadership: Driving clarity in complex systems, mentoring engineers, and shaping high-impact engineering culture.
Scalability & Performance: Deeply understanding system bottlenecks and making software fast, reliable, and cost-efficient.
I’ve led engineering efforts spanning from core platform design to large-scale service deployments, with an emphasis on clarity, reliability, and developer experience.
I’m looking for roles such as:
Principal / Staff Engineer
Architect – Platform or Distributed Systems
Engineering Lead

In recent months I focused on writing a data-intensive Rust web service based on axum for an Oil&Gas giant.I have a unique experience in building Nix-based mono-repositories and running production systems based on NixOS at scale.
Extensive experience with Kubernetes for services and job scheduling, auto-scaled node-pools, and distributed data processing.
6 years of university education in discrete math and databases. Mostly fond of functional programming (F#, Rust, Haskell), but not dogmatic about it.

I also did DevRel in the past and recently interviewed some DevRel positions, made me realize I am also suitable for that and willing to work with that.
I have a lot of experience with iOS and Android, but been some time since I worked with these.
Have done & can do full-stack work (helped current company grow from three engineers and through acquisition) but lean towards backend/infrastructure in expertise. Most recently platform technical lead (IC).
MEng EE & CS blend. (No professional EE experience, but somewhat maintained as a hobby.) 8y post-intern experience in web software.
Looking for something new to sink my teeth into in an organisation with room to grow. Remote opportunities only please, and that I'm eligible for residing in the UK & as a British citizen, though I'm perfectly willing to travel for particular events/big meetings. Cheers!

Hi! I'm a backend engineer with strong DevOps experience and mid-level frontend skills. Looking for a backend or backend-leaning full-stack role.
I worked at Automattic, the company behind WordPress; fully remote, async teams across the globe.
Building web apps since 2017. I care about good design, scalable systems, and writing simple, maintainable code. I've built and maintained time-sensitive, high-throughput (millions of ops daily) services in production, and I've owned features and projects end-to-end, from design to deployment.
I know how to make smart tradeoffs, think strategically, and balance speed with quality. I like to think of myself as more than a mere software engineer: I can help shape products, something I've consistently delivered across every product I've been part of.
I have a couple of small open-source projects on GitHub.

I work full-time at my own company in the EU. This makes it straightforward to invoice your company, anywhere in the world, for services I provide.
I have state-of-the-art hardware to take on any work with Linux, Android, Windows 11, macOS and iOS and local LLM agents - and experience with all of it - including cross-platform projects. In addition, I have a flexible lab that can simulate cloud workloads.
My primary programming language is C++20. I also use other languages frequently.

Hey there, this is Lourenço! Right out of the bat, I just want to say: I'm not the typical application, as my background is in Economics, Philosophy and (organic) Farming. IT was always my hobby, and that's why I've recently decided to convert. I've already had entry-level positions in the industry, and I'm more than willing to continue to work at that level.
Recently Director of Engineering at MetaGravity, where I led teams building cloud-scale multiplayer and simulation infrastructure (Rust, Terraform, AWS/GCP/Azure).
I’m looking for a hands-on engineering position — ideally Rust-heavy — where I can contribute to performant systems, tooling, or low-level backend work.
Also open to short-term contracting through my own company.

Think of me as a founder, but then as an employee. I work at big F500 comapnies like that, as well as startups. I add the most value when I work at the intersection of being a data analyst and product engineer. I analyze data, determine the roadmap in collaboration and own products end to end. I also collaborate on the marketing efforts. My marketing skills are getting sharper but they aren't sharp enough for me to fully own that part too. Currently I work on creating products for marketing automation. Titles I'd be a good fit for: data analyst, product manager and software engineer. I'm currently a data analyst that also creates software. Before that I was a software engineer that would also help the business.
My brain works best interdisciplinary. I need to switch disciplines every so often to stay 100% engaged.

Hi! I'm a computational scientist transitioning fully out of the wet lab into a purely software/data-focused role. My core strengths are in building/testing automated data pipelines. In my previous role, I developed a MATLAB codebase that analyzed neurophysiological data to identify multiple groups of clinical biomarkers in animal models. On my Github you can find a simplified version of this rebuilt using Python, Docker, Nextflow, and Pytest to visualize complex time-series data.
Starting Georgia Tech's OMSCS program in January to deepen CS fundamentals.
I'm looking for a full-time position within computational science, bioinformatics, QA automation/SDET, SRE, or types of Python-focused tech support/data analyst roles. I'm a quick learner and am really eager to pick up additional stacks and technologies.

I'm open to both part-time contract and full-time roles. At $WORK, I'm on the Developer Experience (DevEx) team, focusing on performance tuning for our core Rails application and building internal tools for other departments using Retool.
I'm comfortable working full-remote, I'm also a fast learner and eager to pick up new tech stacks as needed. I learned Rails on the job for this current role, which I actually found right here on HN!
You built something powerful. Early adopters get it. But broader adoption stalls because the experience doesn't create its own momentum. I specialize in that exact inflection point - making sophisticated tools feel like discovery rather than homework.
My approach comes from 10 years running an indie game studio. I apply behavioral psychology to B2B/developer tools. Not gamification - actual intrinsic motivation that makes the 100th use rewarding. Judge for IGF, MagFest, CODiE, GEE, Serious Games awards.
Recent work: Semantic analysis mapping 110M+ connections across 1.5M words. Previously: SpicyNodes (40M users), time.gov (pioneering govt web service), medical AI serving 1.5M patients.
I lead teams or ship directly via AI-assisted architecture. Looking for Series A-C companies (10-50 people) with products that need to feel less like enterprise Java circa 2003. Developer tools, learning platforms, technical products with adoption friction.
Seeking: Head of Product Experience, Director of Developer Experience, or whatever you call the role that makes your product sing.
Location: Szczecin, Poland (EU)
Hi there! Get in touch if you need an easy to work with and versatile lead/senior iOS developer for your app or platform that needs good performance, appealing user experience, and AI integration. I'm a developer and cofounder (indie game) specializing in graphics optimization (Metal/OpenGL), real-time visualizations, and embedding ML models for on-device inference. Experience with LLM fine-tuning, vector search, computer vision, and converting large models to compact on-device implementations. Led development of an App Store-featured app WikiNodes, and games with multiple awards. Recently built a word game system navigating 1.5M+ words with 110M+ relationships using Metal shaders at 60fps, plus shipped computer vision features and cloud-based agent architectures.Seeking remote senior/lead role.

Product-oriented, executive and leadership experience, comfortable in both autonomous and collaborative settings, capable Linux sysadmin. I know how to ship.
I've focused for several years now on agentic and generative work such as simulating networked LLM-augmented embodied agents, interface research, too much to list here but always happy to talk more over email. While the rest of the industry is just starting to latch onto agentic systems, I can offer years of experience and product insight.

What I’m looking for:
• Roles: Senior / Staff Backend Engineer or Tech-Lead positions
• Engagement: Long-term, direct hire or contract-to-hire with meaningful equity; I enjoy building products and teams, not just features
Why me:
• Designed & scaled a payment platform serving 1000+ merchants and processing billions of USD in the last 4.5 years in the middle east.
• Habitual refactorer: cut 700 Django migrations to <200, shaved 60 % off deploy times, and drove P99 API latency below 150 ms
• Clear, async-first communicator; fluent in English
• Enjoy mentoring, code reviews, and turning business specs into maintainable architecture. Work should be fun.
If you need a senior engineer who can own a codebase, level-up the team, and ship reliably, let’s talk.
I'm good at this sort of nitpicky work, spotting and thinking about edge cases. I like getting things exactly right, even though that obviously isn't always possible due to various constraints. I've been kind of wondering if I should get into embedded development; I find it appealing when things are low-level or similarly constrained. I've beaten Microcorruption. :) (The original levels, I haven't played the new ones.)
I'm also quite interested in unusual or obscure data formats, and working on Truffle Debugger and its associated libraries certainly involved a bunch of having to figure undocumented formats and interfaces. :) I put down above what languages I've worked substantially in but I'd say I'm a generalist and will figure out whatever you give me (I knew approximately no Javascript, Typescript, or Solidity when I started working at Consensys).
I'm a mathematician by background and in my spare time, so after the Truffle Debugger project was shut down I took some time off to focus on my mathematical projects. But now I'm looking for work again! If you need someone like me, I'm available for hire!

Location: EU
Remote: Yes, EU timezones preferred
Willing to relocate: Depends on the location (but with a strong bias for EU-Schengen/US locations)
Technologies: Java, Python (and variants thereof like Groovy, Clojure, Pypy), Node/TS | AWS/Lambda Serverless, GCE/Kubernetes | Redis, MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB
Resume: https://bit.ly/3B3o65M (It links to my CV repo at Github, pinky promise. You can also visit github.com/<hnusername>.)
I'm not actively looking (hence why my resume link is obfuscated like that) but I'm at least interested in getting a feel for the market right now. That said, I'm willing to consider a position with a great fit for my skill set and career goals.
Here's my pitch: I have experience in a multitude of industries and positions. From improving legacy infra and processes in an established telco company to scaling a fast-moving startup from 200K to 2M users. In my free time, I love writing Code That Is Poetry but day-to-day I am not an idealist engineer who doesn't compromise. Well-engineered code is clean and correct but correct above all else.
Oh, also, I'm great at writing documentation. I consider myself introverted but apparently my communication skills are above average for Software Engineers. I also pride myself on my humility and modesty.
I'm currently a backend engineer developing features and improving infra for an online game with millions of daily active users. I'd love to explore other technical positions in the games industry short of joining a AAA studio because (a) I don't want to crunch and (b) my skill set does not lay that way; other tech-creative industries would also appeal to me! Another particular interest is in B2C businesses where the 'C' is software developers. I'd love to chat and network about opportunities; if you think you have a product that could benefit from my skill set, drop me a line!

Experienced in fast-paced startup environments and motivated to help shape high-growth products from the ground up.
Until earlier this year, I worked at Uber as a Developer Advocate for Cadence — an open-source workflow orchestration engine powering 12B+ workflows/month. I partnered with dozens of teams to support adoption, scale distributed systems, and troubleshoot production issues. Cadence is a key component of Uber's Michelangelo ML platform, and I worked closely with AI/ML teams to integrate it into fault-tolerant pipelines. I also supported internal model training efforts, including fine-tuning LLMs to answer Cadence-related questions and building systems to classify and prioritize developer support.
At DoorDash, I contributed to the migration from Django to Kotlin microservices on the Drive Merchant Services team, focusing on customer support endpoints. I also designed and implemented a modular refund rules engine for our largest partners, enabling flexible refund logic and supporting internal tooling.
I’ve previously built NLP pipelines at Jobscan to match résumés to job descriptions and score resume strength, and earlier, trained models to predict ad performance based on copywriting—my first foray into ML back in 2016.
After wrapping up at Uber, I took the summer off for personal restoration following a divorce. I'm now excited to return to a hands-on engineering role with a collaborative, technically strong team and a path toward engineering leadership (EM or CTO). I'm particularly interested in infrastructure, developer platforms, and applied ML systems in domains like healthcare, logistics, finance, or defense.
Outside of work, I enjoy navigating Puget Sound on my sailboat, wrenching on my motorcycle, and getting curious about obscure systems and trivia. Let’s build something meaningful.

I'm a Master's in CS, and a primarily backend software engineer focusing on mathematical & data analysis, currently specializing in vibration, signals, and sensor analysis, as well as data visualizations. I recently reverse-engineered and from-scratch rewrote an obfuscated backend analysis codebase, resulting in a maintainable, readable, concise, well-documented system.
I have some past experience building backend web services with Clojure, Postgres, and Datomic, and more recent experience making local frontend GUI tools with TypeScript.
I'm a strong advocate of FOSS tools, powerful pragmatic languages, modular technology stacks, and simple solutions. All directly informed by experience with how proprietary languages & libraries, monolithic stacks, and clever programming wizardry result in systems that are brittle and crash-prone, expensive or impossible to maintain, and difficult to defend to clients and courts.
I also come with a whole career specifying, planning and deploying tech into mission/safety critical applications e.g. aviation and rail. I have led large multidisciplinary teams, undertaken advanced user-engagement and have great working knowledge of commercial and financial management.
Looking to pivot out of business development and "traditional" engineering, but have the domain knowledge, discipline, and attention to detail to get things done. Happy to start at any level to enter, or open to alternative ideas e.g. product management. If you're curious, please just reach out and ask.

I'm an early-stage CTO, expert engineer, and data professional interested in team-building, consulting and architecting data pipelines or API-heavy backends. At Edmunds.com, I worked on a fairly successful ad-tech product and my team bootstrapped a data pipeline using Spark, Databricks, and microservices built with Java, Python, and Scala.
At ATTN:, I re-built an ETL Kubernetes stack, including data loaders and extractors that handle >10,000 API payload extractions daily. I created SOPs for managing data interoperability with Facebook Marketing, Facebook Graph, Instagram Graph, Google DFP, Salesforce, etc.
More recently, I was the CTO and co-founder of a gaming startup. We raised over $6M and I was in charge of building out a team of over a dozen remote engineers and designers, with a breadth of experience ranging from Citibank, to Goldman Sachs, to Microsoft. I moved on, but retain significant equity and a board seat.
I am also a minority owner of a coffee shop in northern Spain. That I'm a top-tier developer goes without saying. I'm interested in flexing my consulting muscle and can help with best practices, architecture, and hiring.
Would love to connect even if it's just for networking!

Hello, I'm one of the original evangelists for Ruby on Rails and the author of The Rails Way as well as Patterns of Application Development Using AI. Over the past three decades, I’ve led teams and built products at every scale — from early-stage startups to global platforms — combining deep technical expertise with a creative, forward-looking approach to software craftsmanship.
I bring 30 years of hands-on engineering experience, including senior leadership in architecture, AI integration, and product strategy. Whether working as an individual contributor or guiding organizations through transformation, I focus on delivering clarity, velocity, and sustainable innovation. My last gig was leading AI strategy related to Developer Experience at Shopify.
Currently evaluating consulting and permanent opportunities with preference for executive leadership position at a larger company, although will consider consulting and fractional CTO type roles for startups and smaller ventures if the project and team are interesting enough.
My ideal role would be in an early startup, of good people, doing something beneficial to society. First refining the product concept and MVP, and building and shipping it. Then growing and nurturing teams of highly effective people who are aligned with the shared mission.
(Heads-up that I don't do L**tC*de, from either side of the interview table, and I'm not interested in any company doing bl*ckch**n.)

Lately, I’ve been exploring graph-based knowledge representations as a method for information compression and long-term memory permanence in AI systems — developing pipelines that integrate LLMs with structured memory to retain and generalize knowledge efficiently.
My background bridges applied machine learning and software engineering, from building text-to-speech systems and semantic retrieval tools to experimenting with persistent, graph-oriented architectures for reasoning and recall. I’m looking for opportunities at the intersection of AI systems engineering, knowledge representation, and scalable memory architectures.
Currently developing a macOS Mastodon client, Oliphaunt — more details, screenshots and feedback are available here (https://github.com/anosidium/Oliphaunt-App). Previously built HacKit (https://apps.apple.com/app/id1549557075), a macOS Hacker News reader, which has been well received for its simplicity and adherence to platform design language. (https://github.com/anosidium/HacKit-App)
Open to freelance or full-time roles. Particularly interested in working on meaningful software that makes a positive impact — whether as part of a small, focussed team or a larger organisation with a clear and thoughtful product vision.

- BMC firmware keeping hyperscale data centers from catching fire
- Logistics robots shuttling parts around automotive factories
- Kubernetes PaaS that actually worked (multi-tenant, auto-deploy, the whole nine yards)
- Made books talk on-demand (text-to-speech system for a major digital library)
Looking for: Deep industry problems where the tech is just the tool, not the product.

Hi, I'm Jonathan. I’m currently doing DevOps work for an open source project and operate a small web hosting company. My skill set is focused on the DevOps side, with a bit of general dev experience, primarily with Python. On the side I also host my own infrastructure as a hobby, from the hardware to the nameservers and everything in between.
I'm a strong communicator, having collaborated across disciplines and presented work for both technical and non-technical audiences. Having worked at startups before, I’m comfortable wearing many hats (and enjoy the variety). I'm self-motivated, a strong problem solver, and love to dig into new complex problems and learn new tools.

I'm a generalist with a background in full stack development, release engineering, and systems administration. I can do pointer arithmetic but I can also set up a DNS server or, in a pinch, configure Webpack from scratch.
US and Mexican passport holder; willing and able to travel (and I wish I had more excuses to go to CDMX more often). Based in central Mexico, I have good timezone overlap from Buenos Aires to Seattle, and I'm used to keeping early hours to sync with teams in Europe as well.
As a native English speaker with C1-ish Spanish, I often act as a liaison between international teams and our Mexican office.
At my current job I've thrived when assigned to work on large, legacy projects (I've ended up leading them more than once) and with direct contact with customers and users.
I enjoy documenting (yes, really) and mentoring and putting out fires. I use a system loosely based off of quicksort when pairing my socks, yet I also spend a good deal of my free time reading and working out.

Full-stack experience with building backend APIs in Java and Golang, and frontend interfaces with Astro and React. I'm a Linux enthusiast with a fair bit of systems administration knowledge as well.
Familiar with dealing with VoIP/messaging platforms such as Discord and Mumble.
Willing and able to adapt to new technologies!
I’ve spent 11 years at a bank and two years at a pensions firm. Both places don’t particularly appreciate radical changes or rapid movement.
While at the bank, I helped adopt Python for non-critical tasks and pushed for the production use of scripts for critical systems. My time was mostly spent writing C++, debugging obscure issues, and migrating software to 64-bit and C++11.
At my current role, I’m working on a Blazor site for pension scheme trustees to view aggregate member data and scheme health information.
I’d appreciate a role that has me learning something new, doesn’t try to pigeonhole me once I find a speciality, and prioritises small teams with some degree of autonomy.

I have years of experience in writing software for and running large simulations on high-performance computing (HPC) systems. I have also developed software for non-scientific purposes, like creating user interfaces for desktop applications. I have years of experience working with large datasets, including the tasks of calculating statistics and developing hypotheses/models/theories from data. I've worn many hats over the years and love learning new and interesting topics.
I'm Andrew, an HCI-focused software engineer looking for my next full-time role. I spent a lot of time recently working independently on a web OS project called "LisaGUI" (https://lisagui.com) that recreates the Apple Lisa's UI from scratch in JS.
Ideally, I'd like a role that will let me combine programming with my deep background in art and design.

Background: 25 years of tech. If there's a job done in or around IT, I've done it and done it well. I started with dumb terminal migrations and build world-class databases today. As I like to say, I know the whole data stack from "Silicon to SQL". Lately, I've specialized in building amazing engineers. If you need an amazing team of engineers (think NASA or SpaceX) over a team of amazing engineers (think Justice League or Avengers), then I am the leader you need!

Hi! I'm Rachel and I'm a Full-Stack Software Engineer based in Chicago with multiple years of experience in JavaScript, TypeScript, Ruby, and Python. I have also worked with various technologies including AWS and Docker. I am the co-creator of Pendulum (https://www.pendulum-baas.dev/), a reactive Backend as a Service for web applications.
I'm a full stack engineer and I can build whatever you need - just reach out!
Most recently, I designed and implemented an LLM-assisted data pipeline that converted security bulletins into actionable intelligence for an enterprise cyber security product.
I enjoy working with Django, previously migrated live auth systems with zero downtime and took SaaS products from prototype to production.
I have founded a startup and grown the business from zero to profitable exit.
I'm seeking a senior backend, data engineering, of founding engineer role at a stable, product-focused company. I'm strong in API design, data modeling, and production AI integrations.

I am mostly a self-taught Rust engineer who tried (unsuccessfully, so far) to build a cartography startup. But I still need a regular day job, even if everything goes well, but I have lots of experience in Rust by now. After school, I only had some training in government administration, but never wanted to work there. Learned C++ in my free type, then switched to Rust in 2017 to create my own GIS / graphics applications. That work resulted in the https://azul.rs GUI framework (still working on it).
I finished multiple smaller projects for the German government (had to get "some" job because I ran out of money building Azul), but sadly all my designs got rejected due to German bureaucracy. I am good at thinking through systems, ownership and understanding the entire product, as well as rendering, performance, Linux / open-source and software architecture.
Not interested in crypto or defense sector.

I'm an exiting CEO, with a marketing/engineering background. Led marketing at an acquired $350M+ ice cream brand, as well as launched a $1B vertical farming startup. Looking to get back into tech which I just love, no earlier than Jan 2026. Having worked in various industries, with programming and engineering chops, I speak multiple "languages" well; people have described me as the missing piece of the puzzle who can distill the needs of various stakeholders/customers and move projects forward.

Hey. I'm a software developer experienced in designing and building distributed systems. I've been working on a MMORPG that uses Elixir for the backend. This project has been done mostly out of self-interest and curiosity. Currently the game has some players and fans, with servers located across multiple regions.
Prior to this I was a backend developer at a financial services start-up that specialized in implementing payment solutions for non-profit companies. In this role I wore many different hats. I did Data Engineering work in the form of designing schemas and building PCI-compliant data pipelines for use in analytics (DynamoDB, AWS Lambda, AWS S3, AWS Athena). I also built out several integrations to different CRM + ERP platforms. Furthermore I was responsible for the company DevOps strategy and architected a multi-AWS account set-up + CI/CD pipeline for all company infrastructure deployments.
I'm open to any intermediate backend or fullstack developer roles. I have some interest in working within the games industry, so if you have any roles there, I would also be interested. Through my work on the MMORPG in elixir, I've gained considerable experience in designing and implementing AI-Actor architecture + Hierarchical Task Networks for autonomous agents. Technical interests include: low latency distributed systems, systems analysis, signal processing, and graphics programming.

I have several years experience as a data analyst, mostly in the video games industry and, more recently, in public service. A large part of this has been data engineering work which I've always found I tend to enjoy more than the analysis side. I've also always maintained a personal interest in programming working on side projects, and so, I am looking to transition into a development/data engineering role.
Lately, I have been spending my time in the embedded space working on retro game console accessories which has been very rewarding. I would love carry some of this experience into a professional role.

Résumé/CV: https://www.geary.com/resume.html or https://www.geary.com/resume.pdf and https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelgeary/
Email: mike@geary.com
Hi, I'm Michael Geary. I've programmed in many languages and environments over the years. Some of my current interests are:
• Aviation and geographic data. For example, airspace and obstacle data importers for Wing; election results and voter information maps for Google; many interactive maps for other companies.
• Hardware interfacing. In a way, I am a "full stack" developer, but my stack may involve a front end to a piece of hardware rather than the cloud. I first got into programming via ham radio, so RF hardware remains an interest.
• Designing and building APIs. Too often an API is designed by exposing the internals of whatever system provides the API. My philosophy is the opposite: start with the apps. I like to build a series of sample apps before starting on the API. This way I can imagine what API will make those apps and others like them easy to build.
• Talk with users! I don't like to sit in a back room cranking out code. I want to make sure it's the right code for what my users need, and that it's easy to maintain and improve as we learn more about what they want.
Open to full time or contract.
I look forward to talking with you!

CTO with 14+ years building platforms and leading operations. Started as a sysadmin, grew into leadership by shipping systems that actually worked. ERP migrations with zero downtime. Warehouse automation that tripled productivity. Cloud infrastructure that significantly cut overhead.
Built integrations for everything from legacy AS/400 systems to modern microservices. Implemented AI automation and tooling. Contributed upstream to open source projects. Led cross-functional teams through the messy reality of keeping a business running while modernizing everything underneath it.
Looking for CTO/VP/Director roles at companies building real things: ecommerce, logistics, distribution, manufacturing, SaaS. I excel at digital transformation and aligning technology with business strategy. Comfortable being hands-on when needed, strategic when required. I've built teams, driven revenue growth, and owned business outcomes - not just shipped code.
If you need someone who understands both the tech stack and the business stack, let's talk.

I'm a full-stack engineer with 10+ years building production systems at Amazon, Instructure, and various startups. I take on contract work where I can deliver results: architecting systems from scratch, optimizing infrastructure to cut costs 70-80%, building AI/ML applications with LLMs and embeddings, or improving performance by orders of magnitude. I've led technical development that's helped companies secure millions in funding and built systems serving thousands of users in production.
I work across the entire stack and can jump in at any stage of a project. Whether you need someone to architect scalable AWS infrastructure, build AI-powered features, integrate complex third-party systems, or optimize existing codebases, I focus on shipping solutions that work. Happy to discuss short-term or ongoing contract opportunities where technical experience and execution speed matter.
If you need help with specific technical projects, or are looking for management roles please feel free to reach out. I'm very familiar with both the unique challenges of scaling up startups as well as working to innovate in large enterprise companies.
Specifically if you need help productizing and scaling out various AI/Machine Learning/LLM systems this would be a good fit. I know there is quite a bit of demand in this area and a limited supply of qualified candidates.
I'm David,
- Product-minded Engineering Leader with 17 years of experience (ex Hopin, StreamYard, Bitrise.io, IBM).
- Looking for an Engineering Manager role focused on AI projects.
- Prefer startups and scale-ups within the EMEA timezone.
What I did (TL;DR):
- Led modern software engineering teams and solved problems.
- Backend engineer with DevExp and DevOps background.
- Experience in video streaming, live captioning, content analyse with ML, plus strong CI/CD expertise.
- Currently running my own micro-SaaS experiments.

I am a seasoned (>13 years experience) full-stack staff-to-principal-level software engineer/consultant specializing in the backend, systems architecture, AI, platform engineering, internal tools, prototyping, and data engineering. In addition to strong programming and architectural skills, I'm a force multiplier for any team in either role through the three T's -- teaching, talking, and tooling. I also hold a US patent in the AI space.
In the past, I've taught a number of scientists and students to code in python; I've led and managed a number of high-impact engineering teams of up to 12; and pioneered a number of no- and low-code solutions for stream processing, data model and query generation, form building, workflow systems, and front-end construction for a variety of industries, including those with strong regulatory requirements and complex business rules such as healthcare and fintech. >10% of all medicare applications and millions of individuals currently flow through pioneering no-code systems I conceived and built and have ran in production for over a decade.
More recently, I've built a no-code automated form-filler and a workflow engine for coordinating LLMs and other generative AI processes, and on top of this a platform for both minimizing hallucinations and working with documents that are far too large for existing context window inputs or outputs using a novel, patented process that I invented; and applied these tools to various contracted projects requiring analysis and and cross-checking of information and other forms of integrity across textual and video/audio corpus data in a variety of domains (fiction and non-fiction).
I am also an improvisational pianist, published poet, and I've created novel algorithms and tools for studying and composing both music and poetry, which I have given a talk on at a recent functional programming conference.
I have extensive experience working for and running startups, software consulting shops, with some mid-sized company engineering experience as well; these give me a unique insight into speaking with customers and internal stake-holders, translating between engineering and other departments, gathering requirements, aligning stake-holders across departments on a vision and attainable timeline, and architecting/building/taking ownership over significant internal and customer-facing areas of responsibility.
If any of the above seems like a match for you and your organization or project, don't hesitate to reach out.

Hi there! I'm Dylan Fitzgerald, a software engineer with a knack for bridging the gap between technology and team dynamics. With a technical background in Ruby on Rails, Elixir, and DevOps, I excel in elevating the quality of projects while fostering a harmonious team environment. My years of consulting across the industry give me perspective on what works—and doesn't—with teams and process. In particular, I thrive on turning the implicit into deliberate decisions.
I've mostly consulted over the last seven years or so, but am open to going in-house for the right fit. Going deep on Elixir or learning a new culture by getting out of the state for a while would be compelling. (I've lived and worked outside the US for years previously.) - Full-stack development with a focus on Ruby on Rails and Elixir ecosystems.
- Expert implementation of TDD (particularly RSpec) ensuring reliable, maintainable code.
- Process, communication, and goal refinement within your team.
- Making informed decisions for your team and tech stack.
- DevOps practices to streamline your deployment and infrastructure management.
- Well-versed in using agentic AI tooling (my daily driver is Claude Code these days), and happy to explore and demo how this can accelerate you and your team.
My training in Shape Up and cross-industry exposure helps me tailor strategies specific to your team’s dynamics. I thrive in collaborative settings, helping leadership and teams navigate through their challenges to achieve exemplary results.
Past engagements have seen me providing code review services to hundreds of developers (junior to CTO level), and driving process improvements that enhance team cohesion and project delivery.
Let’s explore how we can build great stuff together!

I've been using Go as my primary language for the last nine years, although I don't overly care about the specific language and have experience with a wide variety of tools and languages such as Python, Ruby, PHP, C, JavaScript, Lua, and probably some more. While I've mainly focused on backend in the last few years, I also have written plenty of frontend code over the years, from the "pre-jQuery" days to VueJS.
In the last few years I mainly focused on GoatCounter (https://www.goatcounter.com) with the occasional contract job, but I'm keen to start working on something new for the longer term.
I've got quite a bit of code on my GitHub, so you can take a look at that if you want: https://github.com/arp242
Personally I'm looking for a job that I feel like actually has some kind of positive benefit on the world, or something that seems particularly challenging or interesting. This can range anywhere from a note-taking application to managing retirement funds to writing a Typescript to Go compiler to writing a new database. I'm not interested in one of the 5 million AI hype cycle jobs (partly because I dislike LLMs), and I actively hate the blockchain, ads, and tracking users. I do not, and will never, compromise on privacy issues.
A list of things you should know about me and how I'm going to do my best work for you:
* I want to be able to work on something a bit more interesting than another simple REST application.
* I want my hours to be flexible, meaning when I start/end or being able to take some time in the middle of the day for groceries or a doctors appointment.
* I want to be able to come up with ideas I think would be useful/interesting and be given some time to work on them. I know that there are things I'm going to have to do for the business that aren't going to be these things, but I need some amount of time to do this or I'm going to struggle as a worker.
* I'm going to have strong opinions about all sorts of things, and I expect to be able to have a conversation about them and not just be dismissed.
* I'm going to want to improve things, and if I continuously get told "no", it's going to kill my morale.
I've previously lived in Japan a couple decades ago and studied the language intensively for 2 years at that time in one of the schools dedicated to helping foreigners go to university or get jobs there. (specifically at: 東京平田日本語学院. I almost passed JLPT N2 then, but I'm nowhere close to that level currently) I've recently been picking back up on studying Japanese again to maybe fulfill a long-held dream of going back to Japan longer than a vacation. So on the off chance you're someone in Japan hiring for a position you think I'd be a fit for (and you're not a black company), please reach out.
NOTE: I am going on an extended trip to Japan in November and December 2025, so while I'm open to doing interviews (time zones notwithstanding), I will not be able to start working until 2026

Hello, my name is Jesse.
I describe myself as a competent generalist, and a lifelong learner. I'm frequently working on something I've never done before. My most recent professional experience has been about a year at a semiconductor startup; I wrote prototypes for an ISA, compiler and a (really sweet) cycle simulator & debugger.
In terms of hard technical skills, I can quickly become productive in nearly any language, and at any level of the stack. I'm comfortable working in soft-realtime environments which are heavily multithreaded/async, and performance is a key acceptance criteria. I have a good understanding of modern hardware architectures, including GPUs, from main memory to registers and instruction pipelines. I have working knowledge of interpreters and dynamic language runtimes, including GCs. I'm convinced I can learn nearly anything (albeit some things more quickly than others), given an appropriate problem domain to apply it to.
In terms of business value, I can take hand-wavy visions of new products and turn them into working prototype(s), quickly. I'm comfortable refining those raw materials and delivering real value to customers, internal or external. I have a long track record of successfully identifying 80/20 solutions and love the feeling of making tools that make peoples lives better.
I'm a natural leader; informal teams coalesce around me when I'm not in a labelled position of leadership. I aspire to someday, maybe in the far future, become a strong technical leader. One of my best qualities is my (nearly) unwavering personal vendetta against mediocrity. I'm generally friendly and easy to get along with, but do not hesitate to volunteer constructive criticism where I see room for improvement. This has caused friction for me in the past, but I'm now generally good at gently steering my teammates in the direction of technical excellence.
In my personal life, I enjoy travelling, surfing, climbing, backcountry skiing, snowmobiling, pirates, and attending raves. I like the phrase "have strong opinions, weakly held".
If I was born to do one thing in this world, it's program computers.
Jesse
